As of 01.01.2020, lithium cells and lithium batteries may only be transported if the test has been passed in accordance with UN 38.3 and a written test summary is available. Otherwise there is an absolute ban on transport.
Of course, this also applies to lithium cells / lithium batteries that are already installed in devices or enclosed with them. Here, the device manufacturer is obliged to provide this information within the supply chain to all distributors, such as logistics providers or transporters, right through to the respective dealer. This future proof is mandatory for lithium batteries manufactured after 30.06.2003.
